I am making a music quiz in java. Can you add a timer onto it so the questions have to be answered within a ..?
a specific amount of time. Also is it possible to get the program to choose a random question out of 20. I want the program to be a 10 question quiz which has to be answered within 30 seconds and goes back to the beginning if you make a mistake. If anybody can give me some guidance it will be appreciated.
Timer: use javax.swing.Timer. Register an OutOfTimeListener (as the ActionListener) with the timer to call the same code that a wrong answer would execute.
Random Question: Represent your questions as Question objects. Store them in an java.util.ArrayList. To retrieve a question, call a getNextQuestion() method. This method should use a java.util.Random object and the nextInt() method to retrieve a question from the ArrayList, removing it from the list.
//instance variables
private List
private Random fRandom = new Random();
//method
Question getNextQuestion(){
Question result = null;
int remaining = fQuestions.size();
if (remaining != 0) {
int next = fRandom.nextInt(remaining);
result = fQuestions.remove(next);
}
return result;
}
Going back if wrong:
Maintain quiz “state information” in a Quiz object. When they get a wrong answer, reset to a new Quiz object. For example, write a QuizManager class that manages everything. The Quiz object takes a List or array of Question objects in the constructor, provides the getNextQuestion() method, etc.
